A Child's First Steps
All children take their first steps at their own pace.
Some start by pulling themselves up, standing for a moment, and taking a few wobbly steps before sitting back down. Others quickly gain confidence and begin exploring the world on their own. When you understand the different stages of development, it becomes easier to choose shoes that are just right for your child’s current stage.
The First Stage
The first phase begins when the child stands up, stands on their own, and takes their first supported or unsteady steps.
During this period, movement is all about finding balance and building confidence. Their feet are still learning to move, so shoes need to be especially soft, lightweight, and flexible to support natural movement.
Our Prewalker shoes are designed specifically for this stage.

Next Step
As your child begins to walk more independently and move around confidently on their own, their needs change.
Natural movement is still the foundation, but the shoes now need to withstand play, longer walks, and a more active daily life. That’s why our First Walker shoes combine the same flexibility with a more durable outsole and extra protection at the toes, while still supporting the child’s natural movement.
Our First Walker shoes are designed for children who have moved beyond their very first tentative steps and are ready to explore the world on their own.

Development Over Age
All children develop differently, and there is no specific age at which it’s time to switch from Prewalker to First Walker. The right time depends on the child’s development.
When the shoes are suited to the stage your child is in, their feet have the best conditions to develop naturally from their first steps and throughout childhood.
This way, your child gets a shoe that fits from day one while also providing the necessary space for the foot to develop naturally.
