Responsible leather production
Bundgaard is a member of the Leather Working Group, a non-profit organization that improves the global leather supply chain. We are dedicated to producing shoes from the highest quality materials while supporting responsible leather production. Our shoes are therefore made from leather from LWG-certified producers, all of which have achieved a high rating.

Leather Working Group
Introduced in 2005, the LWG rating is an international standard for leather production that ensures environmental and social responsibility. The certification provides a detailed insight into how a tannery measures, monitors and reports the impact of their production.
The original classification was developed in collaboration with brands and leather producers and with input from NGOs such as WWF and Greenpeace. It is continuously updated to stay relevant and adapt to industry developments.

Gold, silver and bronze
Certification is awarded based on a minimum score, with the highest score, Gold, awarded at 85%, Silver at 75% and Bronze at 65%. The final certification corresponds to the lowest score achieved in each category. For example, a manufacturer only achieves gold if gold is achieved in all categories.

An overall rating
An LWG audit is divided into several sections, each affecting the manufacturer's performance, including:
· Environmental management
· Chemical management
· Waste management and wastewater treatment
· Health and safety
The certification is valid for 24 months for leather production facilities and subcontractors and 12 months for retailers of partially processed material.
